They only helped me for a small while, after that I had to get to the root of the problem and make changes. Excellent Luck.

Very, very effective. But, you will need to take them for about 1 year. Talk therapy is vital while taking them. Get off after about a year or so if you can. And, make sure that you have a supporter, family member, or someone who really “knows” you to watch your behavior. Sometimes antidepressants can make you manic which can cause you to do things you normally wouldn’t (like travel to Vegas and waste all of your money, or make risky stock market trades, or drive 100mph drunk, etc…). These are things that I did and I finished up into a lot of debt. But, it was the most memorable and fun year of my life.

Clinical depression is thought to be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. It’s not that “things are bothering you” it’s that your brain is reabsorbing the Serotonin that it’s producing before your body can use it.

Serotonin is a chemical neurotransmitter, it produces feelings of happiness and contentment. If your brain is reabsorbing this chemical before you get a opportunity to feel it’s effects, you end up with depression.

There’s a class of antidepressants known as Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors, which are generally successful in treating depression because they keep your brain from reabsorbing the Serotonin so quickly.

I have found that the right medication is absolutely effective in managing your symptoms. Though it’s not typical, and it’s always possible to have mood swings, I go through the day without even thinking about the fact that I’m bipolar because I simply don’t have any symptoms.

Please take your medication, but know that it can take 4-6 weeks for it to get to therapeutic levels in your bloodstream, so you may not feel it straight away. Also you may experience side effects, but these should pass around the same time that the meds start kicking in.

    Excellent luck.

Glad to answer this one, i like helping public with this stuff helps me too, Im 25 and have been suffering from manic depression/anxiety, chronic wakefulness as a side effect of it and possibly bipolar as well, im just worried to find out i have more problems. I know what its like and I judge that medication for your depression is a concealer so to speak. Ive tried so many with no result because I feel the problems I were facing were real not just some chemical imbalance as ads on tv will described. There are different types of depression and its crucial to pinpoint exactly what the issues are that are botherig you and attack each one individually so you don’t overwhelm yourself. Don’t kill yourself, here’s why. When you kill yourself you leave all of you r loved ones with the same feeling you had vacant into you r suicide. Your selfish act all be it a tragic one will hurt others who really care for you. On top of that, you will be completely forgotten in a matter of a few years or so, just like me or any other person who dies, life goes on without you and you’ll miss out on all the wonderful things. The best era of you r life have not been lived yet, entrust me. I’ve had many thoughts of suicide nearly day after day due to relationships, acne and terrible reactions to medications that make me look like s**t, i dont want to reckon of any more, but I know in my heart that if i just stay alive and work hard towards my goals, it will be but a memory, an experience i can look back on while im sippin some corona with a lime on some tropical beach with a gorgeous girlfriend that will treat me right. So if you want to try some meds u can, maybe it’ll work for you maybe not, but one thing is for sure you cant take a pill to erase what really makes you depressed you need to face it and accept it or it will devour you. Hope this helped just keep ya head up life is gorgeous
